Description

Sterling A. Brown, Arthur P. Davis, Ulysses Lee, eds., “The Negro Caravan,” Arno / The New York Times, 1969. Introduction by Julius Lester. First edition thus.

Thick paperback anthology which includes many classic authors–Frederick Douglass, Charles W. Chesnutt, Jean Toomer, Langston Hughes, Chester Himes, Richard Wright, Claude McKay, Zora Neale Hurston, Arna Bontemps, W.E.B. DuBois, Countee Cullen, and so many more. Also included is a sizeable section of folk literature and song. A comprehensive survey when it comes to early Afro-American literature.

Lightly read with faint wear to covers, in clean solid shape. Scarce in the original edition and scarce in this reprint edition, as well.
