Formed in New York City in 1990 by guitarist Richard Baluyut and bassist Fontaine Toups, Versus became one of the most important, influential and underrated bands in the then budding indie-rock genre. They werent as influential as Pavement, as industrious as Guided By Voices, as idiosyncratic as Unrest, or as ubiquitous as Superchunk.
